American Commemorative Panels
Commemorative Panels have been issued by the US Postal Service since the Wildlife issue of 1972. Each 8-1/2 x 11-1/4 inch Panel is printed on card stock with engraved vignettes on issues prior to 2002 or with photo-engravings and artwork on issues starting with 2002. Each Panel also includes subject-related text and a mint block of four stamps affixed to the Panel in a mount (although strips of stamps, larger blocks and even full sheets have been provided for certain issues, in some cases even requiring two panels.) Commemorative Panels have been issued for every US commemorative stamp. They are available by subscription from the USPS; selected Panels are occasionally offered for sale in the USA Philatelic catalog.  Panels can also be purchased in year sets or individually from dealers, via ASPPP member ads, and in the annual ASPPP auction (the ASPPP has a subscription to one set of Commemorative Panels to scan for this website, which we then sell to recoup our costs.)

The USPS subscription cost of Commemorative Panels follows:

1972: $2.00
1976: (we are researching the subscription prices between 1976 and 1981)
1982: $4.00
1988: $4.95
1989: $4.95
(we are researchingthe subscription prices between 1990 and 2010)
2011: $6.00 or the face value of the stamps affixed, whichever is larger; multiple-Panel issues are $14.95 or the face value of the stamps affixed, whichever is larger.
2012: $6.95 or the face value of the stamps affixed, whichever is larger; multiple-Panel issues are $14.95 or the face value of the stamps affixed, whichever is larger.
2013: $7.95 or the face value of the stamps affixed, whichever is larger; multiple-Panel issues are $15.95 or the face value of the stamps affixed, whichever is larger.

Our goal is to list and scan every Panel since the start of the series as a historical reference; links to tables for each year going back to 1972 will be added below as we assemble them, and scans of Panels will be included as they become available.
